Canvas12 places original work from UK artists into commercial spaces — restaurants, hotels, offices, clinics. You keep your work. You earn a royalty every month it's placed. You can still sell the original to a private buyer. We handle everything else.
The average UK artist earns under £16,000 a year. We can't fix that single-handedly. But we can give you a reliable monthly cheque for every piece of yours that's in active circulation.
Submit the form below with five or more pieces. We respond within seven days.
Our curators assess quality, commercial appeal and fit. We may suggest pricing tiers for different works.
If accepted, we sign a simple consignment agreement. You drop pieces to our storage; we photograph and catalogue them.
When a piece is placed with a client, your monthly royalty starts. Paid by bank transfer at month-end.
We're a curated programme, not an open marketplace. We're looking for artists who can sustain a small but high-quality portfolio.
You do. Canvas12 takes work on consignment, which means the piece is in our care while it's in circulation — but ownership stays with you throughout. If a client wants to buy the original outright, we facilitate the introduction; you set the price and complete the sale (Canvas12 takes a small introduction commission).
Canvas12 carries commercial insurance covering every piece in our care — in storage, in transit, and on display. If a piece is damaged or lost in our custody, you receive the agreed retail-equivalent value as set out in your consignment agreement. We document the condition of every piece in detail when it enters our catalogue.
Honestly? It depends on the work and the demand. We won't promise constant placement, because the model is still building. What we will promise: clear monthly statements, prompt payment when work is out, and no exclusivity clause — you can keep selling your work elsewhere while it sits with us. Some pieces are placed within weeks of joining; others wait for the right room.
Yes. We're non-exclusive. You can sell at galleries, online, through your studio, or at fairs. The only thing we ask: if a piece is currently placed with a Canvas12 client and you want to sell it, give us 30 days' notice so we can rotate it out and replace it.
Different artworks earn different monthly rates depending on size, medium, and the tier they're placed at (Essential, Signature or Bespoke). We agree the rate for each piece when it enters the catalogue, and you can always see the rate on your monthly statement. Typical range: £35–£55 per piece per month.
The last working day of each month, by bank transfer. You get a statement showing every active placement, the piece, the client, and the royalty for that month.
This sometimes happens with Bespoke clients. We pass the brief and budget directly to you; you decide whether to take it. Canvas12 charges a 15% agency fee on commissioned work, and we handle the client relationship and contract.
No — Canvas12 is a UK-wide programme. Most of our current logistics is centred around the North West and we can collect work directly. For artists further afield, we arrange courier collection at Canvas12's expense.
Five minutes. We'll respond personally within seven days. No application fees, ever.
